Aisha Buhari Committed To Women, Children’s Welfare

The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has renewed her commitment to improving the lives of women and children in the country.
Mrs Buhari made the commitment on Tuesday while conducting free medical outreach to more than 2,000 persons comprising indigent women and children at Chachi village of Tafa Local Government Area of Niger.
The outreach was organised by the Future Assured initiative of Mrs Buhari, which provided cartons of anti-malaria drugs, cough syrup and food items, among others, to the community.
Buhari, represented by the Coordinator of Future Assured programme in North Central, Hajiya Hafsatu Zannah, said the aim of this outreach was to provide essential medical services to less privileged people at their door steps.
She said that the well-being of women and children in Nigeria remained her primary concern, hence the need to provide medical and nutritious food items for them

Explosion rocks Gombe Gov’s house

Two soldiers were, yesterday, killed in an explosion that rocked the private residence of Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo at Government Reservation Area (GRA), in Gombe metropolis. The explosion which was heard several kilometres away from the scene also wounded six other soldiers. The soldiers were said to be on guard, manning an armoured tank permanently stationed by the gate of the governor’s house for security. Boko Haram, which has waged an increasingly deadly insurgency in northern Nigeria since 2009, killing thousands, has carried out deadly attacks in Gombe in the past.
